What we actually do

Birchwood Drainage Co. covers WA3 — Birchwood itself, Gorse Covert, Oakwood, Locking Stumps, Risley, Croft, Culcheth and the villages out to Glazebury and Rixton — plus the WA1 edge at Woolston and Martinscroft.

The work is a camera survey of the drainage serving a property: every accessible run entered, every defect graded and located, a written report and the full video. One fixed price, quoted before we attend.

Why we do not carry out repairs

Most drainage companies survey and repair. The survey is cheap, sometimes free, because it is the way into the repair — and the repair is where the money is. That arrangement puts a commercial interest on the other end of a camera pointed at your pipe.

We took the repair work out of the business. It costs us the larger job, and it means a survey here has to stand on its own price. What you get in return is a report from somebody with nothing to gain from what it says.

Why Birchwood specifically

Because the ground and the housing here have a history that matters. Birchwood was built in one push in the 1970s on a cleared ordnance site, during exactly the years when pitch fibre was the material of choice. That produces a distinctive set of findings that somebody surveying a Victorian terrace elsewhere in Warrington will rarely see.

Knowing that before the cover comes off does not replace the survey. It does mean we know what to look for, and it means the report explains findings in terms of how this place was built.

What a survey costs and what you get

£225, fixed. No call-out fee, no charge for locating or marking defects, no extra for the report or the footage.

If a run is completely blocked it has to be cleared before a camera can see anything, and that is a separate job — we will say so when you ring rather than discovering it on the doorstep.
